Actually, I secretly hope you get provoked at this do, so that you can describe their reactions as you transfigure before them, "beautiful and terrible", like Galadriel at the Mirror. Of course, then you'd probably have to move. So yeah, do your best to keep it together. At most, try and make some cutting remarks in the midst of the quadrille.

I think it's "Little Shaolin 1", which stars Jimmy Lin. It's "Some Kind of Wonderful" with kungfu thrown in. It's a total rip-off, down to the earrings-as-gift part.

Yeah what can be more practical than managing both brains and looks, gets the best outcome I reckon. You intrigue by what they see and you enthrall by what they learn.
What is the name of that Taiwanese movie? I'll hunt it down, the last movie of this kind that me excited was "The Cutting Edge" :-)

I like that angle. Pragmatism. You're right. I think guys should get out of the "men are slobs" mentality, too. It's not gay to want to look good.

Some Kind of Wonderful has a Taiwanese knock-off, did you know? I liked that movie, too.

I was diagnosed when I was around 10 or 11, and I have a really good cardiologist who kept me off the meds. As long as I REMEMBER not to strain myself I'll be fine. I think there are worse forms of MVP, mine's probably not as bad. I got off easy, and it got me out of PE a lot :)

Damn... that was bad. So no strenuous activities for you full stop? This story is unsettling in so many levels, more so for the people who know you personally, and yet you were still able to make it sound entertaining.
Never heard of this condition before and frankly it scares the bajebus out of me ( I mean for you) but you seem to have a handle on it, which is impressive. Do take care of yourself and maybe lug around a box with a lot less grunt.

Huh... that was refreshing. I've always thought that the Bridget Jones saga was universally loved by all womenkind and that the only reason I didn't like it, the movie that is, is because I've got too much of the Y chromosome. Although you do kinda' remind me of Lizzy.

I think I'll read these too. I've picked them up, flipped through them in bookstores, but I wasn't convinced that they weren't just the latest teen fad like Twilight. I think I'll consider them to have passed that hurdle by virtue of your review.

You don't have to eat pagpag or even know what pagpag is to understand the situation of poor people. Sure, maybe that might make it easier, but hindi naman siya requirement. There is such a thing called empathy/sympathy.

Kahit naman may kotse ka or wala, talagang apektado pag may gas price increase, kasi tumataas ang presyo ng pamasahe and bilihin pag tumataas ang gas. Bakit mo naman ina-assume kaagad na may kinalaman lang to sa kotse?

And where in her post did she ever blame other people for her shortcomings?

I guess she touched a nerve there for railing against Manny Villar's exploitation of poor people. It really is insulting, the way poor people are paraded on TV for his commercials. But then I guess it all depends on which side of the fence you're sitting on...kung rabid Villar-can-do-no-wrong fan ka ba or hindi.

You sound intelligent, so I'll chalk this one up to a misunderstanding. See, I don't claim to be poor, which is why I called myself middle class. I know I'm luckier than most people in this country in that I can still eat at Jollibee, but that wasn't my point.

You don't have to be a "defender of the poor" because I wasn't making fun of them. In fact, I was pointing out that Manny Villar was a douche for using them for his campaign. I don't have to eat pagpag to know that poor people should not be utilized so brazenly just to serve his commercials.

I have several jobs, sir/maam. But that's really none of your business now is it?

You consider yourself being near poor but you allude to having a car when you say your are "two gas price increases away from poverty" and you also hint to having a television. Maybe iisa na lang ang katulong mo o baka naman hindi ka na makakain sa Jolibee...pards, when is the last time you ate some "pagpag" (recooked leftovers found inside trash)? don't blame others for your own shortcomings and do all of us a favor and take your psychotropic medication so that you stop ranting and can be more productive...like looking for a second job instead of writing on blogs!!!

This post made me watch Rosalinda.

Geoff Eigenmann has scary dead eyes. It's a pity, really, because the guy's cute. I sat through maybe 5 minutes of it before I had to switch the channel. I think his idea of acting is moving his eyebrows: furrowed brows for concern or anger, raised eyebrows for surprise or shock, that sort of thing.

Carla Abellana's not much of an improvement either. In this country, nepotism will get you anywhere.

@pavliuts - I love Side Lucero. And Ryan Eigenmann never fails to scare me.

@Paolo - I see he speaks a little like Michael de Mesa, but then again Michael de Mesa can act, which is why his weird speech pattern is fine. Yes, the entire thing is doomed. It's not just the talents per se; the entire adaptation is bordering on holocaust horror.

BTW, I watched the original Rosalinda (or parts of it at least) and I remember that Thalia could at least act. That alone is worth 100++ points.
